Le CNOSF a paye a tous les athletes qui avaient eu des medailles en 2008 aux differents championnats du Monde, d'Europe et les J.O une semaine de ski a Courchevel... suite a ma medaille d'argent aux chpts d'Europe, j'etais de la partie. La semaine a ete super, on a rencontre pas mal de monde, on a fait du ski dans la poudreuse ou sur les pistes avec des skieurs de renoms (Florence Masnada et son mari Christophe, Sebastien Amiez et aussi Antoine Deneriaz). Il y avait des activites organisees par equipe. Une descente en luge de nuit, avec un arret au stand a la gynepi. On etait 170 au taquet sur la piste a descendre le + vite possible. Le top hein !! On a aussi fait un peu la fete le soir .. rythme dur dur a tenir ! Revei le matin .. qui a dit que c'etait des vacances ?!
Reste plus qu'a refaire des medailles la saison prochaine pour participer de nouveau a cette semaine olympique l'annee prochaine :)

The French Sport Olympic Committee invited to Courchevel all the athletes who got a medal at the Worlds, Europeans or Olympic Games. As i won the silver medal at the European champs early this summer, i was invited. I spent a great week, met a lot of famous athletes, we went skiing in the powder snow and on the normal ski slopes with some famous skiers (Florence Masnada downhill olympic medallist and her husband Christophe, Sebastien Amiez 2002 silver medal at the Olympics in the giant slalom, Antoine Deneriaz 2006 Olympic downhill champion). There was some activities organised as well, team games with prizegiving every evening. One night, we were allowed to sledge on the ski slopes ... it was really fun ! 170 athletes going as fast as possible ! With some gynepi at the pit stop ... ;) nice ! We partied a bit as well ... tough rythm to hold on !! Alarm clock every morning to wake up .. ah ah ah !!
I just need to do an other medal in 2009 to be able to come again to this ski week next year :)

Dans quelques temps sortira en librairie un livre intitule la "Pratique du deriveur" et ecrit par Manon BORSI. Je fais la Une du livre, et l'ouvrage est illustre par de multiples photos ou je suis en train de naviguer. Allez y jeter un oeil.
Pour le moment, il est possible de commander ce livre sur internet sur le site de Voiles et Voiliers. Le titre : "La pratique du deriveur", aux Editions "Comprendre".

In a few days time, a book about how to handle a dinghy boat will pop out in the bookstore. Manon BORSI is the writer, and the title of the book is "La pratique du deriveur" (dinghy boat's handling). I am on the front cover, and there are many pictures (me sailing) to illustrate. At the moment, its possible to order the book through Voiles et Voiliers website. Apres le match race en Suede, j'en ai profite pour prendre quelques jours de vacances sur place. Goteborg, Malmo, Copenhague (y a un pont entre la Suede et la Danemark, de Malmo 20min en train et hop on se retrouve a Copenhague), puis Stockholm.
Ensuite des mon retour, je suis montee sur Brest pour entrainer des jeunes 420 de mon club pour le championnat de France Espoir. On a d'abord fait un stage, les conditions etaient sympas. Puis malheureusement pour la regate, la meteo capricieuse nous a permis de realiser seulement 4 manches en 5 jours, ce qui est ridicule pour un championnat de France. Mes jeunes se classent 7eme (Sacha et Nico), 18eme (Mathieu et Beranger) et 19eme (Sinbad et Arthur). Je suis contente de leur comportement, ils etaient a fond sur chaque manche... dommage qu'on n'est pas couru + de manches car Sacha et Nico etaient capable de faire un podium... les points etaient serres en +.
Maintenant, je me prepare pour la rentree car oui je reprends les etudes ... Des la semaine prochaine ! Rentree a l'IUFM pour me preparer au CAPES d'anglais .... Ca va etre un grand changement : Objectif etudes !

After Sweden, i went up to Brest to coach some 420 youth boys from my club. The french youth champs was held in Brest. We had a training camp a few days before the event started. Sailing conditions were good (except the rain....). Then, when it came to the racing, the wind disappeared ! No more ! We managed to have only 4 races in, out of 5 days scheduled. Its a real pitty for a french champs. My boys did good. Sacha and Nico finished 7th, closed to the podium. So its a shame we didnt get the chance to have more races. Mathieu and Beranger ended up 18th, Sinbad and Arthur 19th.
Now, my life will change for a while. I go back studying, to become an english teacher. I have a big exam at the end of the school year, so from next week i will be studying hard !

Nous avons donc passes du temps a encourager les autres francaises qui ont fait un parcours remarquable. Claire Leroy et ses filles terminent 2eme de la regate en realisant des finales magnifiques contre la suedoise. J'etais stressee rien qu'a regarder les matchs, assise sur mon caillou ...
Je reste quelques jours en Suede en vacances visiter le pays. J'ai eu une journee de pluie a Goteborg le 1er jour .... mais le soleil va revenir !!! Ensuite je monte a Brest au championnat de France Espoir pour encadrer les jeunes 420 de mon club ..... l'ete est bien charge !!

Well the match race regatta didnt go so well. It was our 1st time on this boat, DS37 which made it difficult for us to find the good speed. This lack of speed, and being not so good with the boat handling didnt give us the opportunity to play with the best girls.
So as we didnt win many matches, we had time to watch the others racing, from the big rock by the club and above the racing area. We learned watching them as well... and we did encourage Claire Leroy and her crew til the end... They had a great week, doing an amazingly final against the swedish girls .... but lost the final 2-3 !!
I also want to give a big thanks to our host family who has given us a very warm welcome at their place .... Anna, Tommy and the 3 kids...
Next step, coaching end of August the youth 420 from my club at the French Youth Championships in Brest !!

Je termine donc 2eme derriere la Finlandaise Sari Multala et devant la Belge double championne d'Europe 2006, 2007 Evi Van Acker. Je suis vraiment contente de cette performance.
On a eu de super conditions toute la semaine, avec aussi beaucoup de courant. Les bords de pres etaient donc bien longs et les manches variaient entre 1h10 et 1h35 .... Physiquement, j'etais bien claquee mais quelle satisfaction de tout donner et de finir en beaute !!!
On a malheureusement navigue qu'un seul jour en finale vu que notre dernier jour a tourne court, pas de manches (2 manches etaient prevues au programme) car vent trop fort et mer trop demontee pour sortir du chenal. J'ai brillamment remporte les 2 manches en phases finales ce qui m'aurait permis de jouer le titre le dernier jour ... J'etais revenue a 3 petits points de Sari ....
Maintenant, je suis dans le Sud pour 1 petite semaine. Je repars des ce weekend en Suede a Lysekil pour une epreuve de Grade 1 en Match Race. Je naviguerai avec l'equipage d'Anne Claire Le Berre. Je ferai grand voile et tactique.
Quant au Laser, ben je ne sais pas trop si je vais en refaire. Je ne sais pas non plus si je me relance dans une nouvelle preparation olympique ..... Affaire a suivre !!

Well, i won the Silver medal at the European Championships held in Belgium last week ..... I am very pleased with this performance, its an awesome job to finish my olympic campaign with such a result ....
So i came 2nd to Sari Multala from Finland, and finished in front of double European champion 2006, 2007 Evi Van Acker from Belgium.
We had great sailing conditions all week through. And also a lot of current which made the races very very long !! Upwind beat were amazingly long, and the races lasted between 1h10min and 1h35min ..... Physically, i was dying but i never gave up in my mind. I gave everything at every single race, thinking "ok you will have time to recover so give it all !!" Its thrilling to give it all and finish with such a great result....
Unfortunately, we didnt race on the last day eventhough 2 races were planned. The wind was blowing too strong and the waves were too big to let us go out of the channel. I had won the only 2 races we had in the gold fleet which allowed to me to fight for the title on the last day. I came back to 3 points behind Sari, so everything was possible within 2 races to go ..... But yes, the championship stopped on shore with the announcement of the races cancelled !!
Now i am back south of France for a small week. I am leaving for Sweden on sunday to race in a match race grade 1 event. Going to Lysekil. I will be sailing with Anne Claire Le Berre's crew. I will be doing main sail and tactics.
About my laser sailing, i dont know yet if i will be sailing it again. I dont even know if i keep going for 2012 with a new olympic campaign .... We'll see ....

After some days in Berlin i arrived in Nieuwpoort Belgium for the European Championship.
Weather is fresh over here, especially compared to the south of France .... Its been windy so far in Nieuwpoort, and big waves as well .... Current is strong too which is gonna make the races interesting.
Today i had my 1st sail since Kiel week. Hiking and nosediving wwas today's training. Ah ah ah ....
I have no coach around here, so like in Kiel i will be doing stuff on my own ....
Racing starts on Monday. I am excited, last Radial regatta for me !! I want to finish it on a high note !!

Apres quelques jours passes a Berlin, je suis arrivee a Nieuwpoort en Belgique pour le championnat d'Europe.
La meteo est bien plus fraiche que dans le sud de la France.... On a eu du vent jusqu'a present, ainsi que des grosses vagues ....Le courant est bien fort, ca va rendre les manches interessantes.
Aujourd'hui je suis allee naviguer pour la 1ere fois depuis Kiel. Rappel et enfournages au programme !!! ah ah ah
Je suis ici sans coach comme a Kiel a me debrouiller seule .. Et ca serait cool que ca se termine de la meme facon !!
Les manches commencent lundi. Je suis bien a fond parce que c'est ma derniere regate de Laser. Je veux finir sur une bonne note !!!

Voila Kiel s'est terminee et j'ai gagne la regate .... a la suite de la medal race d'ailleurs !! Medal race avec une birse qui s'est levee jusqu'a 15 nds, vent venant de la cote donc tres shifty et puffy ! Y avait de quoi jouer :)
Avant de rentrer en medal race, j'etais 2eme exaequo avec la chinoise Lija Xu. Je devais faire devant elle pour la passer au general. En meme temps, Sari Multala etait 3eme a 15 points de nous. Donc il fallait faire attention de ne pas terminer 9 ou 10 si elle de son cote gagnait la manche. Et des le depart, Sari Multala a pris de l'avance .. on avait 3 tours a faire mais c'etait clair que les 2 premieres allaient rester devant. Par contre derriere, les places n'ont pas arrete de changer, excitant !! C'etait super serre ...
Au final, je termine 5eme en controlant Lija Xu sur le dernier vent arriere pour etre sur de finir devant elle. J'etais 4eme sur le vent arriere, j'ai donc perdu 1 place mais je voulais assurer face a la chinoise !!! De son cote, Lija Xu termine 9eme de la manche, elle perd donc son leadership pour la 3eme place.
Au final je remporte Kiel devant Sari et Lija !! Comme chaque annee, le nom des vainqueurs va etre grave sur le tableau en bois devant l'entree du club ... donc j'y serai !! ah ah ah .....
Maintenant retour et repos a la maison ou les chaleurs sont accablantes. La suite du programme : Warnemunde 1 europa cup (pas encore sur de la faire

Kiel se passe plutot bien pour moi ... apres 4 jours de course, je suis exaequo 1ere au general avec la Chinoise avant la medal race de demain .... he he trop bon !!!
J'ai 15 points d'avance sur Sari la Finlandaise.
Aujourd hui on a eu du vent fort et shifty. On a fait 3 manches, je fais 2eme, 2eme (mais 1ere car Anna l'americaine est BFD sur cette manche qu'elle gagne) et 6eme. C'est top comme resultat dans le Rond Or.
Hier on a fait seulement 2 manches car temps orageux et instable. C'etait le 1er jour des finales et je fais 10eme, et BFD. Sur la 2eme manche, les 13 premieres filles etaient BFD .. ah ah il est fou ce comite !!!
Voila demain je suis au taquet pour battre la CHN ...

Kiel is going on well for me so far .... After 4 days of racing, i am 2nd equal with the 1st the chinese girl Xu Lija. Tomorrow there is medal race ... he he so good !!!!
I am 15 points ahead of Sari from Finland.
Today we had strong breeze and shifty breeze. We had 3 races, i came 2nd, 2nd (but in the end came 1st cause Anna from USA was BFD in this race she actually won), and 6th. Its good results for the gold fleet.
Yesterday, we had only 2 races, the wind was not stable, too much disturb in the sky with clouds, rains .... It was our 1st day of finals and i came 10th and BFD (10th in this race by the way). In the 2nd race, the first 13 girls were BFD !! he he, the race committee is crazy !
So now, i am soooo motivated to beat Lija from China in tomorrow's medal race !!!

1ere journee de Kiel Week sous un temps harmonieux : beau temps et petite brise de 9 a 12 nds.
On a fait 2 manches, je fais 6eme et 6eme ce qui est bien .. je suis 11eme au general ce soir.
A la 1ere manche, je passe la 1ere bouee en tete mais je perds sur le 1er vent arriere, je me suis fait pieger avec le courant. A la 2eme manche, je ne passe pas tres bien au vent, et je remonte enorme de places au 1ere vent arriere. Je reviens vers les 6 ou 7, place que je garde jusqu'a la fin.
Demain il prevoit du vent un peu + fort et 3 manches au programme !

1st day in Kiel week : nice weather sunshine and light breeze from 9 to 12 knots.
We had 2 races, i came 6th and 6th which is good ! I am 11th overall tonight.
1st race, i rounded the top mark 1st and then lost places in the 1st downwind, got lost with the current i guess ... Then 2nd race, i rounded top mark not very well, didnt play well the shifts. But i caught up a lot of places downwind to round the leeward mark around 6 or 7. I stayed at this place til the end of the race.
Tomorrow we expect some more wind and 3 races scheduled.

Depuis mon retour des USA pour le match race, je suis retournee sur Antibes ou j'ai pris quelques jours pour me reposer de mon mois eprouvant, et pour m'organiser pour mes regates a venir. Je suis aussi allee a Hyeres faire des photos pour un livre qui sortira bientot chez Voiles et Voiliers : comprendre le deriveur ou qqch du genre ! 3 jours de photos, vraiment sympas !!
En ce moment, je suis a Kiel au nord de l'Allemagne pour la semaine olympique qui debute demain.
Ensuite je vais a Warnemunde pour 1 Europa cup de Laser. Ces 2 regates me servent de preparation pour le championnat d'Europe qui a lieu mi Juillet en Belgique.
J'ai mis 2 jours pour monter a Kiel et j'ai fete mon anniversaire sur la route, un peu etrange .... avec une pizza en guise de gateau d'anniversaire ... he he he !!
A Kiel, j'habite chez l'habitant avec d'autres voileux : Alp un Turque qui est entraineur, Kevin un Malaysien et Sylvain un Suisse .... c'est plutot tranquille ....
Je donnerai des nouvelles quand la regate debutera !

After USA, i came back home in Antibes to relax a bit from my tiring month (2 weeks in Holland - 1 week in America - 1 week in the Navy). I went to Hyeres for 3 days to do some photo shooting for a book which is gonna be out in the shops in a few weeks ... a book about how to learn to sail in the dinghy .. how funny to have my face on every single pages in a book !!! ah ah ah ....
I also get a bit organised for my up coming regattas.
Indeed, right now i am in Kiel for the Olympic week. Its my 1st time in Germany and in Kiel ... The regatta starts tomorrow.
Then i will go to Warnemunde for a Europa Cup, then to Belgium for the European Champs. Kiel and Warnemunde are my preparation for the Europeans.
It took me 2 days to drive up to Kiel .... i had my birthday on the road which was a bit strange .. a pizza was an original Bday cake .... original at least !
In Kiel, we stay in someone's house. I am staying there with other sailors : Alp from Turkey who is coaching, Kevin a laser from Malaysia, and Sylvain a swiss guy. Its pretty cool and quiet atmosphere !!
I will keep you update as soon as the regatta starts !
